South Alabama Track & Field concluded the USA Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, with notable performances that included two new school records and five event victories.
Sophomore Presleigh Montalvo broke her own record in the women’s 60 meters, finishing with a time of 7.44 seconds and placing second overall. True freshman Brady Keller also set a new program mark by running 1:50.49 in the men’s 800-meter dash on a standard 200-meter banked track, surpassing the previous best set by Stephen Larubi.
Avery Childress took first place in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 21.47 seconds. In distance events, Charleen Elizondo won the women’s 3000 meters, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of the next competitor at 9:47.83.
Brody Hamilton secured second place in the men’s 60 meters with an 8.63 finish, which is now sixth fastest in South Alabama history. In field events, Terek Logan cleared 5.22 meters in pole vault to earn second place and record the fifth-highest clearance for the program.
In throwing events, Dawson Wright achieved a personal best to win shot put with a throw of 14.31 meters; Calli Stokes followed closely behind for second place at 13.58 meters. Kayden Engel was runner-up in women’s high jump at 1.70 meters.
Samuel Mika scored points by placing third in shot put and second in weight throw. Carlder Datilus finished as runner-up in men’s triple jump while Devin Dahunsi placed sixth.
The hurdles team contributed strong results: Jadon Thomason was second (8.01) in men’s 60-meter hurdles; Nieko Garnes finished third; Samuel Warriner added points by coming fourth.
