Jaguar catcher and outfielder Mike Young concluded his summer in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) as the league’s hit leader. Playing for the Boone Bigfoots, Young recorded 66 hits over 45 games, leading all CPL players. He also finished second in batting average with .384.
Young’s performance included 19 multi-hit games, 11 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 35 RBIs across 172 at-bats. He drew 32 walks during the season. On July 31 against Macon, he had a five-hit game that included two doubles and five RBIs.
His efforts earned him a spot in the CPL All-Star game. During All-Star week, Young won the Catching Accuracy Challenge and was named Catching Skills Champion.
Young helped lead Boone to its first playoff appearance in franchise history. The Bigfoots advanced past Lexington County with a 7-4 win in the West Semi-Final but lost to Forest City in two games during the West Divisional Championship series.
