South Alabama is set to host the Jaguar Classic at Jaguar Field in Mobile, Alabama, from March 6 to March 8. The tournament will feature games against Mississippi State, Samford, and New Mexico.

The Jaguars will play Mississippi State on Friday at 3 p.m. and again on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. In their all-time series, South Alabama leads Mississippi State 7-6 overall, but Mississippi State has a slight advantage in Mobile with a 3-2 record.

South Alabama faces Samford twice during the event—Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at the same time. Historically, Samford leads the series 3-2 and holds a 2-0 edge in games played in Mobile.

The matchup with New Mexico is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. This will be only the second meeting between the teams; South Alabama won their previous encounter at a neutral site.

Live statistics and ESPN+ streaming links for all of South Alabama’s games are available through the team’s schedule page.

Promotional activities are planned throughout the weekend. On Friday, Pit Viper Sunglasses will be given out before the game against Mississippi State while supplies last. Saturday offers “Jags” Script hats starting at 2 p.m., also while supplies last. Sunday features Frio’s Family Days, Godfather’s Trading Card Giveaway, Softball Bingo, and Kids Run the Bases after the game. A Ballpark Pass allows fans to attend both softball and baseball games with one ticket during the weekend.

This year marks South Alabama’s third home tournament of the spring season; they have achieved a 7-2 record in those contests so far. The Jaguars have hosted the Jaguar Classic three times previously this spring and hold a cumulative record of 6-3 when hosting this event since its inception; it is their first time hosting since 2021.

Pitcher Ryley Harrison (7-3) ranks among league leaders in several categories including innings pitched (third), strikeouts (fourth), wins (tied-third), ERA (seventh), and opponent batting average (10th). As a pitching staff, South Alabama leads their conference in shutouts (six) and ranks second in both total strikeouts (122) and strikeouts looking (34).

Presley Lively leads her conference in triples and walks while Gracie Dees tops her team with ten extra-base hits—including seven doubles—and is tied for third most doubles in the league among freshmen. Olivia Branstetter and Lillie Stagner share a team-best sixteen runs batted in each.

Mississippi State represents South Alabama’s fourth SEC opponent this spring season. The meetings with Samford are notable as they are the first since 2016, while Saturday’s contest versus New Mexico is only their second ever—the first occurred during the 2014 season.
