Jags infielder Brennon Wright has tied the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League (CRCBL) record for consecutive games reaching base, with a 38-game on-base streak. Playing for the Bethesda Big Train, Wright also led the league in on-base percentage at .509.

Wright, who is from Mississippi, finished second in batting average with .371, recording 46 hits in a league-high 124 at-bats during the 33-game regular season. He contributed four doubles, 27 runs batted in, drew 32 walks and stole 11 bases out of 13 attempts.

The Bethesda Big Train secured their third straight CRCBL championship and twelfth overall. In five postseason games, Wright added seven hits and three stolen bases to his totals. His full summer numbers included 53 hits, a .379 average, 14 steals in 16 tries, two games with multiple stolen bases and 17 multi-hit performances over his total of 38 games played.

Wright had a standout performance with four hits—including a double—two RBI and two runs scored during the final regular season game on July 22 as part of a decisive win. Over the course of the summer season he posted six separate three-hit games.

Named to the CRCBL First-Team for the upcoming year as one of just twelve position players honored, Wright represented South Alabama throughout the summer and matched the league’s all-time mark by reaching base safely in every contest he played.

Wright will be joining South Alabama this fall as a junior college transfer from Meridian Community College. During his time there he played two seasons for the Eagles and built an impressive offensive record that featured hitting for the cycle along with two stolen bases during one highlight game last season.
