Anna Behnsen and Daniela Palmeros of South Alabama finished tied for 21st place on Mar. 30 at the 54th Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by Georgia at the UGA Golf Course.
The event is significant as it was the final regular-season tournament for the Jaguars before heading into conference championship play. The competition featured strong teams, with Georgia winning the team title after finishing three strokes ahead of Rutgers.
Behnsen and Palmeros each recorded a three-round total of 224, helping South Alabama to a team score of 907 over three rounds, which placed them in twelfth position among sixteen teams. Trinity Beth from Georgia won individual honors with a score of ten under par (206), outpacing her nearest competitor by three shots.
Other notable performances for South Alabama included Lilian Buehle tying for forty-eighth with a score of 228, Mercedes Aldana tying for sixty-sixth with a score of 234, and McKenna Murphy finishing eighty-first with a total of 246. Murphy led the team in birdies during the tournament with six, while Behnsen and Palmeros each made five birdies.
The Jaguars will next compete at the Sun Belt Conference Championship scheduled to take place April 20-23 at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama.
