US Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) visited the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE) in Huntsville on Friday to commemorate National School Choice Week. ASCTE, the only high school in America focused on the integration of cyber and engineering into all academic areas, is a public magnet school offering tuition-free education.

During his visit, Coach Tuberville met with teachers and faculty to emphasize the importance of providing students with the necessary education and technical skills to thrive in an increasingly cyber-centric world. He also highlighted the significance of school choice, which enables parents to make informed decisions regarding their children's educational futures.

"Our kids are the greatest asset we have," Coach Tuberville stated. "We have an obligation to ensure they are equipped for success. The Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering exemplifies the power of school choice. Every child is unique, and parents should have the freedom to select the school that best suits their needs. I eagerly anticipate meeting the next generation of cyber security experts, engineers, and scientists who graduate from ASCTE."

Coach Tuberville's dedication to promoting educational opportunities for students stems from his extensive experience as a coach, mentor, and educator for over four decades. He introduced the Children Have Opportunities in Classrooms Everywhere (CHOICE) Act, which aims to allow low-income families with children in grades K-12 to utilize federal education funds for educational options aligned with their needs.

The senator has consistently advocated for school choice, frequently expressing his support on the Senate floor. Additionally, he recently hosted a roundtable discussion with a parents' rights group to address concerns about parental autonomy under the Biden administration. Coach Tuberville has also cosponsored the bipartisan National Charter School Week Resolution each year and endorsed legislation designating a "Religious Education Week" to celebrate religious education in the United States.

Expressing his opposition to the proposed changes to the Charter School Program (CSP) by the Biden Department of Education (ED), Coach Tuberville firmly stands against any measures that would restrict parents' ability to choose the school that best suits their child.

Regarding higher education, Coach Tuberville has actively worked to safeguard American education from foreign control. He cosponsored the Safeguarding American Education from Foreign Control Act, which seeks to strengthen the enforcement of rules governing foreign donations to higher education institutions and their contracts with foreign entities. More recently, he introduced the Graduate Opportunity and Affordable Loans (GOAL) Act, aiming to address rising tuition costs by capping federal student loans for graduate education.

Senator Tommy Tuberville, representing Alabama in the United States Senate, serves as a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs, and HELP Committees. His visit to ASCTE highlights his commitment to ensuring students have access to quality education and the skills necessary to excel in the digital age.
